The hygiene paper brand Grite, part of the Grigeo Group’s tissue business, continues its long-standing partnership with the Mamų unija charity and support foundation, which assists children in Lithuania battling cancer. Employee volunteer work and annual fundraising campaigns, generating tens of thousands of euros, ensure that children can receive free support, helping both them and their families grow stronger.
According to Almantas Tamošiūnas, Head of Grigeo Tissue, business can and should be more than just economic activity – it’s an opportunity to contribute to life-changing initiatives.
“It’s wonderful to see our support turn into tangible action – helping children and their families during difficult times. We understand that organizations carrying such meaningful missions constantly need business support. That’s why we deeply value and are proud of our long-term partnership with Mamų unija. This organization not only provides professional assistance but also gives children and their families what they need most – hope, strength, and support,” he said.
Justina Mėlinauskaitė, Director of the Mamų unija Foundation, emphasizes that Grigeo Tissue’s support is invaluable – it allows children battling cancer to receive free rehabilitation and recover with the help of good ideas and caring people.
One of the most successful projects has been the creation of an interactive room for children at the foundation’s rehabilitation center. The room encourages children to move joyfully, strengthens their physical abilities, emotional health, motivation, and promotes social interaction and learning.
“The interactive room not only stimulates movement and develops motor skills but also brings joy and motivation. Here, children can explore, create, learn, and collaborate with others, experiencing the thrill of achievement in a safe, supportive environment. In this way, their physical capabilities, emotional health, and self-confidence grow, and every step, jump, or playful activity becomes a small victory in their daily rehabilitation,” said J. Mėlinauskaitė.
Among other Grigeo Group initiatives is employee volunteer work in equipping family homes. These homes are intended for children with oncological diseases and their families, providing comfort, safety, and peace in a cozy environment near treatment centers.
According to A. Tamošiūnas, employees actively contributed to setting up the homes – selecting furniture, decorating rooms, tidying the surroundings, and performing minor repairs, bringing warmth and care to every corner.
“Since Mamų unija team dedicates all its resources to children and their families, it was important for us to contribute by creating a welcoming environment in the family homes. Over five years, families have stayed there more than 1,000 times, and the adjacent rehabilitation center has provided over 12,000 services in two years. Our employees’ volunteer work has become a cherished annual tradition – for six years now, we have contributed to maintaining the family homes and other Mamų unija projects,” he said.
Over the past two years of partnership with Mamų unija, Grite has initiated two fundraising campaigns, raising over €35,000. This fall, the brand is joining an initiative where shoppers at the Maxima retail chain can contribute to supporting children with cancer by purchasing Grite products marked with a golden ribbon – with each purchase, Grite donates to Mamų unija.
The goal of the campaign is not only to raise necessary funds but also to encourage the public to actively contribute to the well-being of children and their families, providing support where it is most needed. This year, the campaign will run from September 2 to November 30.
